Ordinary Hero founder coming to Morton!

I am so excited to announce that Kelly Putty is coming to MORTON, Illinois! Yes, Morton! :)

I was able to finally meet "the Kelly" who is the founder of Ordinary Hero when I went with the OH team to Ethiopia this past July. I can't believe that so many are finally going to be able to meet Kelly and hear her huge heart for others.

It is going to be an awesome night! You won't want to miss out on hearing how Ordinary Hero began, Kelly's family adoption, Praise & Worship led by Whitney Winkler, hearing from other families that have adopted from our area and how we can reach out to those in need in our own COMMUNITY!

Please be praying as we "plan" the event, for those attending, and for Kelly as she leaves her family to help us spark this fire for the need of orphan awareness
in the Central Illinois area!!!
Will you help me spread the word?

Please tell friends and family and sign up at cbcmorton.org! (Go to special events)

If you know someone you want to invite but they don't feel led to ADOPT this event can still be for THEM!:)

A need....

Cloth diapers are needed!
If you have cloth diapers, know someone with cloth diapers, or would like to donate cloth diapers for babies in great need.....let me know!

Here are two blogs that describe the need for CLOTH diapers in Ethiopia. As you can imagine there are MANY...MANY...MANY babies and young children without diapers or underpants. Here are two amazing ladies who have taken on a mission to make sure these children have something on their bottoms! Take a minute and read these two posts...you'll see how many are READY to help this"Covered in Hope" project! Will you act upon this need?

I can also take cloth diapers with me when I go in July! :)

Need an incentive for summer....here is a challenge!

I had a friend just tell me that she is wanting to lose some pounds...and that she would compete against someone to lose weight. Here is an example of how the challenge would work...for you and me. :)

"They could pledge a donation of a certain amt for every # they lose or wouldnt have to, I would just give you an extra $100 if their % of weight loss is more than mine. ie, if they weigh 130 and they lose #13, they lost 10% of their body weight, if I weigh 170, I'd have to lose more than 17# to beat them."

This friend is also going to give me $5.00 for every pound she loses!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, pretty exciting!

So, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED in shedding some pounds before SUMMER gets here....leave a comment, text, or email me! :)

We can work out the details on when the competition will begin,...etc. :)

I'm going back so....save those cans!

By you saving soda cans you can help financial costs for my trip back to Ethiopia. I know they are just cans...but, "Little is much when God is in it..."

My plan is to KEEP saving cans for Korah, even once I'm back!!!! So, keep those cans coming! :)

Here is a link so that you can get a glimpse of the many people and the village of Korah that you could be helping while saving cans. So, start saving!!! :)

Thank you...

I first want to thank those who gave financially so that I was able to go to Ethiopia last July!!! I wish I could tell YOU a million times over and over how thankful I am that you gave so that I could be changed. I'm just as thankful for those who prayed for me on a daily basis! It was hard leaving my family, getting on a plane, going to a far away country(with a group of people I did not know), and seeing the people and things in Ethiopia that I will never forget!

It's crazy to think over a year ago....Ethiopia was hardly on my mind or heart. Over a year ago I followed the journey of a sweet family bringing home their little boy from ET and have loved watching "T" be loved on from his forever family! But....I didn't KNOW about Ethiopia (yet). Then in March of last year, Steve and Em announced that they were starting the adoption process from Ethiopia!! I then started thinking about Ethiopia A LOT more.....which then led to applying for the OH trip...which then led to leaving the U.S. on July 14, 2010...which then led to meeting an amazing team that I spent 10 days with...which then has led to great friendships...
While being in Ethiopia it has led me to a love for orphans and not only orphans but the people of Ethiopia, and the country of Ethiopia. It is true....you do leave your heart in Ethiopia.

So with all of that....I am starting this blog....to "journal" about Ethiopia and for those who will be donating cans for Korah. I want to keep a tally of how much we have raised!!!!
